Barns of the Pedal The Kettle

In posts on my primary blog I've mentioned that, as a kid, I spent a lot of time on my Grandparents farm. So the first time that I road the Pedal The Kettle route, I saw several farms that reminded me of those childhood days visiting the working farm. Today I decided to ride part of the PTK route and take some pictures of the barns on some of those farms. Here are of few of those pictures.

There are many more barns on the route, some in better shape than other, but it's a very scenic ride.
Hope to see you at this years Pedal The Kettle - Sept. 21st, 2008 - Waukesha, WI
As a member of the club I won't be riding that day, I'll be helping out at one of the rest stops (probably the Rome stop just before the 60 and 100 mile routes split).

Posting to the Google Group

James mentioned that there was a question about how to post on the Google group that we use as our forum. There are a couple of different ways to post messages;

1) You can use your email to composed a message and send that email to scspinners@googlegroups.com
If you have a problem with this method, just let me know, I might have to re-invite you to the group.

2) You can login using your google account at http://groups.google.com/group/scspinners and use the (+ new post) button.
If you don't have a google account you can create one with your existing email address (you don't need a gmail account). Just go to https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount and enter your email address, a password and you should be on your way.

Hope that helps, if not and you still have a question, then just ask.

HELP Promoting Pedal The Kettle

We need help promoting Pedal The Kettle (papering cars with our PTK flyer) at other rides. Specifically:

In order to encourage club members to help with these chores we will offer the following incentive: Any member that distributes flyers (by placing a flyer under the windshield wiper of each car) at the above stated rides; will earn one entry for each ride they distribute flyers. At the end of the year there will be a drawing from these names for a nice prize (TBD) approximate value will be $50.00

If you're planning to participate in the above mentioned rides, then just plan to arrive early to do the "papering".
If you're not planning to participate in the ride, then this is a good way to help the club promote PTK.

Steve Thompson will be the contact person for members to get the flyers.
Laura Fisher will keep a list of the volunteers for the drawing.
